Ah, the art of couponing... I long to be good at it! I've been reading blogs about the deals at CVS and Walgreens. I received a $25 CVS gift card for filling a new prescription, so I thought I'd give it a try myself. Here's how I did this week...
Oh and on a side note, my husband just called me "odd"... I think it's for the blog and the couponing, but who knows - I could be out buying Coach bags, but instead I like to SAVE MONEY (I know he's reading this - Hi Honey!!) I'm going to take it as a term of endearment...
CVS
~ 3 General Mill cereals (I chose Fiber One caramel delight (15.6 oz), Honey Nut Cheerios (12.25 oz) and Trix (11.5): 3/$10, had$1 mc, received $5 eb --- total $4 ($1.34/box)
~ 1 Vaseline lotion 10 oz (I chose the mens face and body): $3.69, had $1.25 mc, received $2 eb --- total $.44
~ 2 Campbells Select Harvest soups- (18.6 oz) (or you can chose Chunkys): b1g1 free - $3.19, had $1 mf --- total $2.19 ($1.10/can)
~ 1 Secret Flawless deodorant (2.6 oz): $3.99, $2 mf, received $1 eb --- total $.99
~1 Palmolive liquid dish soap (10 oz): $1.49, received $1 eb --- total $.49
~ 2 Colgate wave toothbrushes : b1g1 free, $2.99, $1 mf --- total $1.99 ($1/each)
~ 2 Colgate Total toothpastes (4.2 oz): b1g1 free, $2.89, $1.50 mf --- total $1.39 ($.70/each)
~ 1 Crest toothpaste (4.2 oz): $2.99, $1 mf, received $2 eb --- total FREE
Totals
(no tax in my state)
used $4 off a $20 purchase cvs coupon
$8.75 in mf's
$18.48 (used gift card)
$11 eb's received back
difference of $7.48
So, paid $0 OOP and made $11 in eb's!!!
I have $6.52 left on the gift card - I'm thinking I should use it for items that give eb's to make the most of the gift card.
My plan is to:
1. Have enough eb's to roll over week to week
2. Spend a max of $5 oop/week to stay within our budget
3. Do this for FUN (refer to husband's comment) to see I can get things for little expense, use/stockpile what we need and give away the rest.
Feel free to comment - tell me how you did or how I could improve! Thanks!
